The City of Parramatta is recruiting experienced operators to join our Cleansing Services team. If you've operated mechanical sweepers, garbage compactors, pressure cleansing equipment or similar plant, this is an opportunity to join one of NSW's fastest-growing councils in a permanent role.

• Mechanical Street Sweeper Operators Full Time 38hr (Mon to Fri)
• Compactors Plant Operators
• Relief Operators: (Operating both Street Sweepers & Compactors) Full Time 38hr and Part Time 34hr (weekend work)

Allowances & Penalty Rates: Adverse Working Conditions Allowance, Early Morning Shift Penalty (20%) and Weekend Penalty Rates (50% Sat and 100% Sun, where applicable).

What you will be doing

These are hands‑on operational roles, with a start time between 2:30am - 3:00am. Duties vary slightly by position, but generally include:

• Operating cleansing plant such as mechanical street sweepers, garbage compactors or pressure‑washing units
• Street cleansing, litter collection and general maintenance tasks
• Completing scheduled routes and responding to changing priorities
• Maintain vehicles and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition
• Working early‑morning shifts and delivering work to a high safety standard

IMPORTANT: These positions operate on early morning shifts, typically commencing between 2:30am and 3:00am. For many operators, this means finishing work before most people start their day and avoiding peak-hour traffic.

What we’re looking for:

To be successful, you'll have experience operating:

• Mechanical street sweepers, compactors or pressure cleansing equipment; or
• Similar heavy vehicles, waste collection equipment or plant machinery.
  

You’ll also need:

• MR Driver’s Licence (Must)
• White Card (Must)
• Strong safety focus and reliability
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the role
• Availability to work early starts
