Our Service – Our Journey

Monash Health’s Older Adult Mental Health Service provides specialist assessment and treatment for individuals aged 65 years and over experiencing psychiatric conditions and/or dementia with associated behaviours of concern.

We work collaboratively across acute, community, and residential settings, maintaining strong partnerships with Residential Aged Care Services, including the Monash run public Residential Aged Care Facilities, Boollam Boollam Aged Care Centre (BBACC) and Chestnut Gardens

Our Older Adult Mental Health service operates across two primary sites—Kingston and Endeavour Hills. This position is based at Kingston, offering convenient access for those living near the CBD or within Melbourne’s south-eastern corridor.

About the Role

This position provides specialist psychological services to residents living within Monash Health Residential Aged Care Facilities, including Boollam Boollam Aged Care and The Avenue wing of Chestnut Gardens, who are referred to the Psychogeriatric Nursing Home (PGNH) In-Reach Team.

Based at the Kingston Centre in Cheltenham, the PGNH In-Reach Team delivers a multidisciplinary model of care, supporting residents with complex mental health presentations and behavioural needs. The team plays a key role in assessment, treatment planning, and behavioural support within residential aged care settings.

In this role, you will deliver evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention to older adults presenting with a broad range of conditions, including:

• Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders
• Depression and anxiety
• Bipolar disorder
• Trauma-related presentations
• Personality disorders
• Grief and loss
• Behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD)
• Other complex comorbidities

About You

You are a motivated and compassionate Clinical Psychologist with a strong commitment to public mental health and improving outcomes for older adults.

You bring:

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• A collaborative, team-oriented approach
• A commitment to evidence-based practice, service development, and quality improvement
• Initiative and enthusiasm for contributing to innovation and research

You have a proven ability to:

• Deliver comprehensive psychological assessment and therapy
• Develop and contribute to multidisciplinary care plans
• Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and across services
• Participate in continuous improvement and research activities

You are an active listener with well-developed negotiation and influencing skills, enabling strong engagement with consumers, families, and stakeholders.

What You Need

• General registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
• Endorsement in Clinical Psychology
• Supervisor endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia (or working towards it)
• Current Working With Children Check and Police Check
• Relevant clinical experience in mental health services

What We Offer
