What youll be doing in this role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing Clinical Coding team at New South Wales largest private hospital. As Clinical Coding Manager youll play a pivotal role in ensuring our clinical coding services are accurate timely and compliant supporting both outstanding patient care and the hospitals operational and legislative requirements.

Youll lead a team of nine highly skilled and experienced Clinical Coders who are passionate about quality and work collaboratively with one another and colleagues across the organisation. Your leadership will foster a culture of excellence continuous improvement and professional development while ensuring key performance indicators are consistently achieved.

Beyond leading your team youll build strong relationships with clinicians executive leaders and external stakeholders providing expert advice and influencing best practice across the organisation. This is a highly visible role that offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact on clinical coding quality operational performance and strategic outcomes.

Youll oversee the integrity of the hospitals clinical coding processes ensuring all medical records are coded in accordance with the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) requirements and Sydney Adventist Hospitals coding policies and standards.

Who were looking for

• Recent demonstrated leadership experience managing a clinical coding function.
• Extensive experience as a clinical coder gained over many years working in a large (tertiary) hospital.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of ICD-10-AM ACHI and ACS coding classifications with recent demonstrated experience in clinical coding auditing and related software.
• Previous training in ICD-10-AM 13th Edition along with experience using 3M Codefinder.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities and demonstrated experience liaising with and supporting both internal and external stakeholders including C-suite executives.
• Ideally experience with private health sector funding and billing requirements.
• A Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or an equivalent qualification.
