An established construction business is appointing a Finance Manager to own statutory reporting, the group audit and the financial control environment. The business is scaling nationally, and its governance framework is being built now rather than inherited.

The business delivers large scale projects for institutional property owners and developers across the eastern states, with most work coming from repeat clients. Revenue is project based and recognised over the life of each contract, which gives the role genuine technical depth.

The Role

• Owns month end close, consolidated financial statements and statutory lodgements, including BAS, FBT, TPAR and ASIC obligations
• Leads the annual group audit and the financial component of internal audits
• Oversees balance sheet reconciliations, the fixed asset register, treasury and bank reconciliations
• Governs revenue accounting, progress claim validation and project trust compliance across multiple states
• Manages the insurance portfolio, including annual renewals, alongside finance leadership
• Leads a team of three across accounts payable and transactional finance, owning the controls and approval workflows

Background Required

• Chartered Accountant through CA ANZ, with a degree in accounting or finance
• 4 to 5 years in senior financial reporting or financial control roles
• Hands on experience preparing consolidated accounts, managing lodgements and coordinating external audits
• Construction, engineering, property development or another project driven background highly regarded
• Exposure to insurance portfolios or financial risk instruments an advantage

What's On Offer

• Total package $140,000 to $150,000 including super. Hybrid working, four days in the office in Melbourne's inner east.
• A close working relationship with the CFO, auditors, brokers and advisers. The first 90 days centre on month end, statutory reporting and balance sheet governance. Over year one, the scope extends to control maturity, treasury and insurance oversight across a growing national group.
