The Role
JPS Medical Recruitment is seeking Geriatric Medicine Registrars and Advanced Trainees interested in developing broad clinical expertise within a supported multidisciplinary environment at a major regional referral health service.
This full-time position provides exposure to the assessment and management of older patients across acute and subacute settings, with responsibility shared alongside experienced Geriatricians and the wider multidisciplinary team. The role includes comprehensive geriatric assessment, discharge planning, management of complex medical presentations and participation in coordinated care to optimise patient outcomes.
A Regional Training Partnership position is also available, offering the opportunity to combine regional training with metropolitan experience through a structured rotation, subject to the relevant training pathway.
Training & Development
Training is a key focus of this position, with opportunities that include:
- RACP Advanced Trainee position in Geriatric Medicine through the Victorian matching process or the Victorian Geriatric Medicine Training Program Regional Training Partnership.
- Regional Training Partnership with a metropolitan teaching hospital, providing one year of regional training followed by one year at the partner metropolitan service (subject to satisfactory performance and program requirements).
- Direct supervision from Consultant Geriatricians.
- Extensive multidisciplinary team experience across geriatric assessment and discharge planning.
- Exposure to both acute and subacute geriatric medicine.
- Training within an RACP-accredited Advanced Training setting. South West Healthcare is listed as an accredited setting with a maximum training duration of 12 months.

Requirements
- Eligible for registration with AHPRA.
- Appropriate level of physician training relevant to the position.
- Demonstrated interest in Geriatric Medicine.
