Regional NSW - Emergency Medicine Registrar
The Role
We are keen to connect with Emergency Medicine Registrars interested in joining a major regional referral hospital within New South Wales.
This role offers broad exposure across a high-volume Emergency Department managing more than 43,000 presentations annually, with a diverse case mix including adult and paediatric emergencies, rural trauma, critically ill children, toxicology and complex regional presentations. Registrars work within a well-supported department alongside FACEMs with extensive consultant presence and a strong focus on education and progression through ACEM training.
The Hospital
As a major regional referral hospital, the service provides specialist care to communities across north-western New South Wales and supports a catchment of more than 200,000 people. Confirmed features include:
- Major regional referral hospital.
- Emergency Department managing over 43,000 presentations each year.
- Approximately 27% paediatric presentations.
- Broad medical, surgical and critical care services.
- Modern acute services following significant redevelopment.
Training & Development
Training is a key strength of this department.
- ACEM accredited for 18 months Emergency Department training.
- Accredited for 18 months non-ED training including ICU, Anaesthetics, Retrieval Medicine and General Medicine.
- Able to fulfil the Paediatric Emergency Portfolio (PEP).
- Advanced Trainees have access to:
- 6-month Anaesthetics rotations.
- 3- or 6-month ICU rotations.
- 6-month Retrieval Medicine rotations.
- Consultant coverage on-site from 7:00am to midnight daily, with proactive overnight on-call consultant support.
- Protected education with approximately 10 hours of Emergency Medicine teaching per fortnight.
- Regular interdisciplinary simulation training.
- Access to high-fidelity simulation facilities.
- Comprehensive ACEM Primary Examination revision program and Primary Viva Course held twice annually.

Requirements
- Eligible for registration with AHPRA.
- Appropriate Emergency Medicine experience suitable for Registrar level.
- Eligible for or enrolled in ACEM training, or equivalent experience.
- International Medical Graduates assessed as partially or substantially comparable are encouraged to make contact.
