About This Role — Melbourne, Wodonga and Gippsland

This is a podiatry role with genuine geographic and clinical range. You will be based in Melbourne, working across our metropolitan clinic network, delivering mobile care to patients in their homes across the city, flying in to service our established Wodonga patient base, and helping us stand up a brand new podiatry footprint in Sale and the surrounding Gippsland towns.

It is not a role for someone who wants the same four walls every day. It is for a podiatrist who wants to build something, who is comfortable being the clinical lead in a room, and who sees a new region as an opportunity rather than a logistical problem.

Pillar One — Melbourne clinic practice

Clinic based podiatry across our Melbourne metropolitan sites. Our Victorian network includes clinics in Cremorne, Docklands, Essendon, Greensborough, Ringwood, Boronia, Narre Warren, Heatherton, Frankston, Werribee and Williamstown North, so there is scope to build a consistent home base while keeping the caseload varied.

Your clinic caseload will cover biomechanical assessment, orthotic prescription, diabetic foot management, wound care, nail surgery, and general podiatry across multiple funding streams. Melbourne gives you strong GP and specialist referral networks and a broad patient demographic to develop specialised clinical interests within.

Pillar Two — Mobile and home visits across Melbourne

A meaningful portion of your week is spent delivering podiatric care to patients in their own environment across the greater Melbourne area. You will work with aged care clients under Home Care Packages, DVA Gold Card holders who cannot get to a clinic, and NDIS participants who need in-home podiatry.

This is frontline allied health at its most meaningful. You are the clinician who sees the patient at home, assesses their risk factors in context, and provides treatment that makes a tangible difference to their mobility, independence, and quality of life.

Your mobile caseload will include routine podiatric care (nail management, skin and callus treatment, corn management), diabetic foot assessment and monitoring, vascular and neurological screening, wound care and dressing management, footwear assessment and education, and flagging clinical concerns back to GPs and the wider team. You manage your own schedule within the community, which means genuine autonomy over how you structure the day.

Transport costs are supported. Depending on your circumstances this may include a fuel allowance, kilometre reimbursement, or access to a company vehicle, so travel between appointments is never a financial burden on you.

Pillar Three — Wodonga FIFO

You will take over our established Wodonga run, servicing an existing patient base on the Victoria and New South Wales border. This is a handover of a working caseload rather than a cold start, so you inherit relationships, referral pathways, and a book that is already there.

Flights, accommodation and travel are covered by us. Wodonga sits roughly three hours from Melbourne by road, with Albury airport on the doorstep, so the trip is a genuinely manageable part of the rotation rather than an endurance test.

Pillar Four — Sale and Gippsland (new footprint)

This is the build. We already have a Proactive Health presence in Sale, Traralgon and Morwell, and we want podiatry standing alongside it. You will be the clinician who establishes that service across Sale and the smaller surrounding towns.

Establishing a region means more than turning up. You will be building GP and aged care referral relationships from the ground up, shaping the service model around what the region actually needs, and growing a caseload that becomes yours. Regional Gippsland is chronically underserviced for podiatry, which means the clinical need is real and the patients are waiting.

For the right person this is the most interesting part of the role. You are not inheriting someone else’s patch. You are drawing the map.

What Your Week Actually Looks Like

No two weeks will be identical, and that is the point. The shape will evolve as Sale builds and the Melbourne caseload settles, but the rhythm is a rotation rather than a routine.

What we can tell you now: you will have clinic days in Melbourne, mobile days across the metro area, a regular block in Wodonga, and time in Gippsland building the Sale service. The split will be agreed with you, not imposed on you, and it will flex as the region develops.

Day to Day, You Will Be

• Delivering clinic based podiatric care across our Melbourne metropolitan sites, including biomechanical assessment, orthotic prescription, nail surgery and general podiatry.
• Delivering podiatric care in patients’ homes across greater Melbourne, including diabetic foot management, wound care, vascular and neurological screening, nail management, and footwear assessment.
• Servicing our established Wodonga patient base on a regular FIFO rotation, with travel and accommodation covered.
• Establishing a new podiatry service across Sale and the surrounding Gippsland towns, including building GP, aged care and community referral relationships from scratch.
• Collaborating with physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians, occupational therapists, social workers, and GPs as part of a coordinated care model.
• Managing your own schedule with genuine autonomy over routing, timing, and patient flow.
• Maintaining thorough clinical documentation aligned with Proactive Health’s governance standards and DVA compliance requirements.
• Flagging clinical concerns, escalating risk, and coordinating with external providers including GPs, vascular surgeons, and endocrinologists.
• Educating patients and their families on foot health, self management, falls prevention, and preventive care.

Requirements

• AHPRA registration as a Podiatrist (or eligibility for registration).
• A recognised tertiary qualification in Podiatry.
• Current professional indemnity insurance (or willingness to obtain).
• A valid Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to travel — this role includes a regular FIFO rotation to Wodonga and regular work in Gippsland. Comfort with travel is not a nice to have here, it is the job.
• Current or willingness to obtain a National Police Check and relevant state based screening.
• Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and communication skills.
• Confidence working independently and autonomously while contributing collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Comfortable with technology — digital clinical systems for documentation and remote collaboration.

Highly regarded but not essential:

• Experience building or establishing a new service, caseload or region.
• Experience with DVA clients and DVA compliance requirements.
• Prior experience delivering podiatry in home, community or rural settings.
• Experience across multiple funding streams (NDIS, Medicare, Home Care, Workers’ Compensation).
• Competency in nail surgery (with local anaesthetic endorsement where applicable).
• Interest in diabetic foot management, wound care, or chronic disease management.
• Familiarity with regional and rural allied health delivery.
