About the Program & role:

\n

AIR6500 is the RAAF's $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked 'system of systems' that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.

\n

The Senior Engineering Program Manager reports to the AIR6500 Chief Engineer and is responsible for work scope performed by the AIR6500 project IPTs including SEIT and Product IPTs. The Senior Engineering Project Manager will be responsible for specific Engineering & Technology (E&T) technical and programmatic performance responsibilities for the delivery of an allocated Materiel Release (MR) as part of the program agile cadence. Through the role the Senior Engineering Project Manager will be the primary E&T point of contact for all key stakeholders including the Commonwealth for the MR outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

\n

People:

\n

\n
• Provide timely and accurate resource requirements such as people/skills, tools, infrastructure to Centre of Excellence leads together with program discipline leads.
\n
• Work with first and second line functional leaders to identify program team staffing.
\n
• Provide Engineering & Technology program team recognition and stakeholder performance feedback.
\n
• Support the mentoring and career development of program team
\n
• Proactively communicates with all constituents.
\n
• Accountable for E&T technical, cost, and schedule performance on the program.
\n
• Member of Program Integrated Team and primary Engineering & Technology interface with Program Office/Customer for all programmatic items.
\n
• Ensure the E&T functional stakeholder engagement in program oversight and cost estimating review/approvals.
\n
• Monitor program performance including earned value management and technical progress measures.
\n
• Ensure technical and programmatic risks and dependencies are identified, managed and appropriately elevated.
\n
• Ensure technical integrity of program products.
\n
• Ensure requirements baseline is documented, tracked, maintained, and verified.
\n
• Ensure establishment and tracking of key Technical Performance Measures (TPM).
\n
• Track maturity of technical baseline and management of technical debt.
\n
• Ensure adherence to adequate and appropriately adapted Engineering & Technology processes.
\n

About you:

• Extensive experience in C4ISR including below areas:
\n
• Comms – datalinks and voice
\n
• Electronic Warfare
\n
• Integrated Air & Missile Defence
\n
• Sensors – active/passive
\n
• Expert experience in System of Systems integration programs.
\n
• Expert Engineering Management experience within a Defence engineering and regulatory framework.
\n
• Extensive experience in management of Technical Risk.
\n
• Extensive experience in resource planning and competency management.
\n
• Extensive experience in Control Account Management.
\n
