An exciting opportunity has become available for 2 casual Works Safety Officers to join the Gold Coast Airport team. The Works Safety Officer (WSO) represents the airport authority as a frontline overseer of works and project activities from an aviation safety perspective and provides assurance with regards to regulatory compliance, operational safety and efficiency. Some overnight shift work will be required.

How will you make an impact? \n

The ideal candidate must have a current Drivers Licence and be able to hold an ASIC Card as well as an Aeronautical Radio Operating Certificate . E xperience in providing a high range of emergency, security and safety services or in roles dealing with Heavy equipment, Logistics, or Operating in highly regulated environments will be valued. Basic computer literacy and organisational skills will be regarded.

The base ordinary hourly rate of pay for this position is $38.88 excluding Superannuation.

Key deliverables/responsibilities include but are not limited to: \n

• Possess and apply a working understanding of aerodrome operational policies, procedures and standards.
\n
• Apply a working knowledge of typical aircraft and airport ground vehicle characteristics as they relate to aerodrome operations, related works and maintenance activities.
\n
• Ability to undertake and contribute to a range of aerodrome operational and compliance activities as required. Including but not limited to wildlife management, airspace protection and general safety assurance.
\n
• Identify, apply and enforce aerodrome compliance regulations as detailed in the CASA Manual of Standards (MOS) Part 139 and ICAO Annex 14: Aerodromes.
\n
• Liaise with air traffic and ground control personnel on a regular basis when work is in progress.
\n
• Liaise with the works organisation/contractors, on a regular basis, regarding any matters necessary to ensure the safety of aircraft operations and aerodrome personnel.
