About The Role

The Field Installation Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality installations, upgrades, and onsite technical support for IVMS, fatigue monitoring, Vision AI, AD+, and in-warehouse systems. This role plays a critical part in the successful execution of both individual installations and large-scale deployment projects by ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and consistently. Reporting to the Field Service Team Lead, the Field Installation Technician will manage assigned installations, support complex deployment activities, perform onsite quality checks, and uphold Powerfleet's health, safety, and installation standards.

About The Role

\n

The Field Installation Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality installations, upgrades, and onsite technical support for IVMS, fatigue monitoring, Vision AI, AD+, and in-warehouse systems. Installation & Technical Execution

\n

\n
• Perform vehicle and equipment installations for IVMS, fatigue monitoring, Vision AI, AD+, and in-warehouse systems in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
\n
• Execute wiring, mounting, calibration, and system configuration accurately, completing pre- and post-install testing to validate functionality.
\n

Deployment & Site Support

\n

\n
• Support onsite coordination for large or complex deployment projects, ensuring installation activities are completed efficiently and to standard.
\n
• Provide onsite oversight during strategic installation deployments, including performing quality checks of service partner technician work.
\n

Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance

\n

\n
• Troubleshoot installation issues independently across a wide range of equipment and configurations, escalating complex issues when required.
\n
• Maintain accurate installation documentation, including photos, notes, and configuration details, and provide feedback on recurring issues or process gaps.
\n

Health & Safety

\n

\n
• Follow Powerfleet health and safety policies, customer site requirements, and applicable local regulations while performing installation work.
\n
• Complete required risk assessments and method statements for assigned installations and promptly report hazards, incidents, or near misses.
\n

Qualifications

\n

Education & Experience

\n

\n
• Demonstrated experience installing technical systems in vehicle, telematics, electronics, or similar field-based environments.
\n
• Minimum 2 years of field-based installation or technical experience.
\n
• Automotive experience is essential (e.g., mechanic, auto electrician, or similar trade), with hands-on experience working on vehicles.
\n
• Strong technical background with the ability to work independently and manage complex installations and deployment activities.
\n
• Proven ability to troubleshoot a wide range of equipment, wiring configurations, and system issues in the field.
\n
• Experience supporting large-scale, multi-vehicle, or multi-site installation deployments is preferred.
\n
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.
\n
• Must have working rights in Australia.
\n

• Comfortable working with vehicle systems, including wiring, dashboard removal, splicing, and vehicle interiors.

• Tech-savvy, with the ability to learn new systems quickly (full product training provided).
\n
• Strong customer communication skills in onsite environments.
