Job description

Melbourne Truck and Vans is seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Used Vehicle Sales Consultant/Cadet to join our team in Preston, Victoria. This is a full-time position where you will be at the forefront of our sales operation, building relationships with customers and driving vehicle sales. As a Used Vehicle Sales Consultant, you will play a crucial role in our business by identifying customer needs, showcasing our inventory, and closing sales whilst maintaining our reputation for exceptional service and integrity.

Key responsibilities

  • Greet and engage potential customers, understanding their vehicle requirements and budget constraints
  • Conduct thorough product demonstrations and highlight the features and benefits of our used vehicles
  • Provide expert advice on vehicle specifications, maintenance history, warranty options and financing opportunities
  • Prepare and present quotations and negotiate terms to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Complete all necessary documentation and administrative requirements associated with vehicle sales
  • Build and maintain a strong customer database, following up with leads and previous customers
  • Achieve and exceed monthly sales targets and key performance indicators
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure excellent customer service and repeat business
  • Stay informed about current inventory, pricing and market conditions to provide accurate information
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct yourself with integrity at all times

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in vehicle sales, retail sales or a similar customer-facing sales role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with diverse customers
  • Demonstrated ability to identify customer needs and match them to appropriate solutions
  • Self-motivated and results-driven with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry, including vehicle specifications, features and financing options (desirable)
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to juggle multiple customer enquiries
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to demonstrate vehicles on test drives
  • Proficiency with computer systems and CRM software (training provided)
  • A professional demeanour and commitment to delivering outstanding customer service
