We're now looking for a Principal Engineering Geophysicist to join our high‐performing Geotechical & Tunnels team and contribute to major infrastructure, tunnelling, resources, energy and environmental projects.

This role can be based in either Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane.

What You'll Do

\n

As a Principal Engineering Geophysicist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering advanced geophysical solutions and shaping project outcomes. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading data acquisition, analysis and interpretation for airborne, ground, marine and borehole geophysical surveys.
\n
• Providing high‐level geophysical advice on complex ground engineering challenges to internal teams and clients.
\n
• Developing and verifying robust geophysical methodologies and ensuring quality technical outputs across multiple projects.
\n
• Scoping, managing and delivering projects of varying complexity, including contract negotiation and commercial oversight.
\n
• Guiding clients through complex technical issues, regulatory processes and best‐practice geophysical solutions.
\n
• Contributing expert technical input to proposals and strategic pursuits.
\n
• Driving strong safety leadership and upholding all HSE responsibilities.
\n
• Mentoring and coaching geophysicists, building team capability and promoting a culture of technical excellence.
\n
• Staying at the forefront of advances in geophysical technologies, research and industry practice.

About You

\n

You're recognised as an expert who challenges the status quo and brings deep experience in geophysical survey design, data processing, and interpretation. You think strategically, communicate complex ideas clearly, and balance technical excellence with strong project delivery. You lead with emotional intelligence and a commitment to wellbeing, thriving in collaborative environments where you build strong internal and external networks.

Essential qualifications & skills

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Geophysics (Master's or PhD highly regarded).
\n
• 15+ years' experience delivering geophysical services across major projects.
\n
• Proficiency with industry geophysical software (e.g., Rayfract, Refract, SurfSeis, SeisImager, ReflexW 2D/3D, GeoTom, SonarWiz, Res2DInv, WellCAD).
\n
• Highly capable in managing large‐scale, multi‐disciplinary projects with strong commercial awareness.
\n
• Proven ability to produce, review and sign off complex technical reports.
\n
• Strong client relationship skills and a track record of delivering outstanding client outcomes.
\n
• Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, and building technical capability in teams.
\n
• Valid unrestricted driver's licence for use in Australia.
\n
