About the role

This is a full-time position based in Sydney NSW. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing commercial contracts, negotiations, and relationships across our construction projects. You will play a critical part in ensuring that our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual obligations. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the commercial success of our organisation whilst working with a dynamic team on high-profile construction initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Managing and administering all commercial aspects of construction contracts, including variations, claims, and disputes
• Negotiating terms and conditions with contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to protect company interests
• Preparing and reviewing commercial documentation including tender submissions, contracts, and commercial proposals
• Monitoring project budgets, expenditure, and cashflow forecasts to ensure financial targets are met
• Identifying and managing commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle
• Liaising with project managers, finance teams, and external stakeholders to ensure commercial alignment
• Maintaining detailed records of contractual obligations, payment schedules, and key milestones
• Providing commercial advice and strategic guidance to senior management on project and contract matters
• Resolving commercial disputes and managing claims processes in a timely and professional manner

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience in commercial contracts management within the construction industry, ideally gained on large-scale or complex projects
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, including understanding of standard forms such as AS ********* and other industry-standard templates
• Proven experience in contract negotiation, variations management, and claims administration
• Solid financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, forecast costs, and manage project cashflow
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate effectively at all levels
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple contracts and projects simultaneously
• Proficiency with relevant software and systems for contract management and project administration
• Professional certification in construction contracts management or equivalent recognised qualification is highly desirable
• The ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
• Sound understanding of construction law, risk management, and commercial best practice
