Voice Pickers - Metcash Canning Vale | $33.85 p/h + Allowances | 3-5 Days | Permanent Opportunities

Labourforce is currently seeking experienced Voice Pickers to join our team at Metcash in Canning Vale.

About Metcash
Metcash operates a central warehouse and distribution facility in Canning Vale, supplying independent retailers across Western Australia.

The site distributes products to a wide range of customers, including IGA supermarkets, bottle shops, petrol stations, convenience stores, bars and restaurants.

The warehouse operates across four main areas:

  • Dry Shed - Ambient, dry goods
  • ALM Shed - Ambient alcohol distribution
  • CSD Shed - Ambient products for convenience stores and smaller retailers
  • Cold Shed - Chilled and perishable products

Team members will generally be assigned to one warehouse area, with a willingness to assist in other areas from time to time required.

What's on Offer?

  • $33.85 per hour casual rate, including casual loading
  • Early morning allowance for shifts commencing before 6am
  • Rosters of 3-5 days per week, depending on the shed and shift availability
  • A range of shift start times, including 6am, 8:30am and 1pm
  • Ongoing casual work with a well-established employer
  • Potential to transition from Labourforce to Metcash employment after approximately 12 weeks
    • Opportunities to upskill across different areas of the warehouse
    • Potential part-time and full-time opportunities for high-performing team members

Rosters, shift availability and start times are subject to warehouse operational requirements at the time.

About the Role
As a Voice Picker, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently picking customer orders using a voice-directed picking system.

Your duties will include:

  • Voice picking orders using a voice-directed picking system
  • Operating an electric pallet jack (EPJ)/MHE
  • Picking products within your allocated shed
  • Repetitive manual handling of products up to 30kg
  • Working to pick rate KPI's
  • Ensuring orders are picked accurately and efficiently
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised warehouse environment
  • Assisting other warehouse areas when required

What We're Looking For
To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • Previous voice picking experience
  • Recent pick packing experience within a busy warehouse or distribution centre
  • EPJ/MHE experience preferred but not essential
  • The ability to consistently meet picking KPI's
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy
  • The physical ability to lift up to 30kg repeatedly
  • A reliable and positive attitude
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Flexibility to assist in other warehouse areas when required

You will initially commence as a Labourforce casual team member. After approximately 12 weeks, reliable and high-performing team members may have the opportunity to transition onto Metcash's books.

Once working directly with Metcash, there are opportunities to upskill into different areas of the warehouse, giving you the chance to develop new skills and take on additional responsibilities.

There may also be opportunities to move into part-time and full-time positions as vacancies become available.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Pass a pre-employment medical
  • Pass a drug and alcohol test
  • Participate in random on-site drug and alcohol testing
