Task & responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Organize and control the operations of the kitchen to ensure a memorable dining experience for our patrons.
  • \n
  • Duties in brief include: Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
  • \n
  • Being responsible for quality control and tasting the dishes; making sure they meet the right standards and are presented correctly before they go out to thecustomer.
  • \n
  • Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen and waiting staff.
  • \n
  • Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
  • \n
  • Preparing and cooking food.
  • \n
  • Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations.
  • \n
  • Potentially selecting and training staff.
  • \n
  • Freezing and preserving foods.
  • \n
  • Creating a vision for the cuisine, inspiring the team, and delegating tasks effectively.
  • \n
  • Recruiting, motivating, and managing staff.
  • \n
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ordering food, and undertaking the kitchen inventory (this potentially includes budgeting).
  • \n
  • Overseeing hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • \n
  • Preparing and plating dishes and contributing to menu design.
  • \n

Qualification & experience

\n

    \n
  • Appropriate qualifications such as AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in a related study.
  • \n
  • A minimum of at least 2 years of formal experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
  • \n
  • Prior experience of at least 1 year working in a fast-paced environment.
  • \n
  • A positive attitude with a strong work ethic and good communication skills.
  • \n
  • The ability to work well within a team environment and under pressure.
  • \n
  • Availability to work days, nights, and weekends, and have your own reliable transport.
  • \n
  • An ability and desire to work morning, late evening, and weekend shifts.
  • \n
