We are seeking an experienced Safety Engineer – Land Capability to lead system safety activities across the capability lifecycle, ensuring integrated systems and the Systems Integration Laboratory meet Defence, Saab and legislative safety requirements.

\n

Working closely with Systems Engineering, project teams and Defence stakeholders, you will identify and manage safety risks, undertake hazard and risk analysis, develop safety cases and ensure appropriate safety controls are defined, verified and maintained through development and in‐service support.

\n

The Role

\n

Key responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Develop and maintain system safety plans, processes, frameworks and workflows.
\n
• Examine system safety requirements and assist in the development, design and integration activities ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory and technical requirements.
\n
• Lead functional and physical hazard analysis, including Preliminary Hazard Lists, Preliminary Hazard Analyses and System Hazard Analyses.
\n
• Conduct safety assessments for design changes, engineering changes and System Problem Reports (SPRs).
\n
• Develop and maintain Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Cases to support system acceptance and operation.
\n
• Define, manage and maintain safety requirements, mitigating controls, verification and traceability.
\n
• Participate in system safety working groups and provide clear reporting on safety risks and issues.
\n
• Support broader Systems Engineering activities across the development and in‐service support lifecycle.
\n
• Work with engineering and project teams to ensure safety risks are effectively identified, mitigated and managed.
\n

About you

\n

You will bring:

\n

\n
• Demonstrated experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, with strong capability in system safety.
\n
• Experience developing and managing hazard analyses, safety assessments and safety cases.
\n
• Ability to apply systems engineering and safety principles to complex Defence capabilities.
\n
• Strong analytical, problem‐solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
\n
• The ability to work collaboratively with engineering teams, project management and Defence customers
\n

Security & ITAR

\n

Australian Defence Security Clearance – NV1 is required. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.

Ability to access and work with ITAR‐controlled information
