About the Role

Shoobeck Pty Ltd trading as Next Door Restaurant & Bar is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our team. This is a full-time position suited to a candidate who can operate in a fast-paced kitchen environment and maintain high standards of food quality and safety.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  1. Assisting the production department including with managing food inventory and storage in compliance with quality and safety standards and ordering food
  2. Collaborating in kitchen activities according to deadlines and volumes
  3. Operating ovens, grills and other kitchen equipment to prepare food safely and consistently
  4. Preparing food for customers as per the restaurant’s recipe including cooking, seasoning, and portioning food items
  5. Plating and presenting meals to the required standard before service
  6. Modifying menu items to cater for dietary needs and preferencesCarrying out quality assurance of food products to ensure consistent, high-quality food
  7. Maintaining a clean and organised work area adhering to all kitchen procedures, OH&S and Food-Hygiene standards
  8. Collaborating with Chef to prepare and develop food and beverage menus
  9. Communicating effectively with front-of-house staff and kitchen staff
  10. Ensuring meals are produced on time and sufficient quantities are available for the various areas
  11. Assisting in maintaining stock levels of all kitchen supplies
  12. Training new staff the skills required to work at Next Door Restaurant
  13. Monitoring and reducing food wastage

Skills and Experience Required

·Relevant qualification (at least Cert IV) in commercial cookery or in a related field

·At least 12 months of relevant work experience as a Cook post qualification OR at least 3 years of work experience as a Cook

·Strong knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations

·Strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques

·Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high volume environment

·Strong organisational and communication skills

·Attention to detail and commitment to quality
