Legal Studies and Economics Teacher

A.B. Paterson College is seeking an exceptional Legal Studies and Economics Teacher to join our vibrant and high-performing Secondary School community. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing Term 1, 2027.

We are seeking a passionate and engaging Teacher who is committed to inspiring students to think critically, question thoughtfully, and achieve their personal best. The successful applicant will deliver high-quality, curriculum-aligned learning experiences across Secondary year levels, fostering both academic excellence and a genuine enthusiasm for learning.

The ability to teach Legal Studies and Economics is essential. Experience, or an interest in teaching Philosophy & Reason, will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plan and deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned learning experiences in Legal Studies, Economics, and related Humanities subjects that promote critical thinking and academic excellence.
2. Inspire students to engage with contemporary legal, economic, ethical, and societal issues, developing their analytical, research, and communication skills.
3. Design and implement effective assessment and feedback practices that support student growth, achievement, and successful learning outcomes.
4. Create a positive, inclusive, and high-expectation classroom environment that supports student wellbeing, engagement, and achievement.
5. Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to curriculum development, pastoral care, and the broader co-curricular life of the College, including opportunities to support Philosophy & Reason programs.

What We’re Looking For:

• Qualifications and demonstrated capability to teach Legal Studies and Economics in a Secondary School setting. Experience, or an interest in teaching Philosophy & Reason, will be highly regarded.
• A strong commitment to student wellbeing, academic excellence, and fostering a culture of high expectations.
• A collaborative educator who contributes positively to faculty initiatives and the broader life of the College.
• A sound understanding of the Australian Curriculum and QCAA syllabuses, with the ability to deliver engaging and contemporary learning experiences.
• Proficiency in the use of educational technologies and digital learning tools to enhance student engagement and outcomes.
• Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the willingness to obtain.
