About Fresh Futures Hair & Beauty Lounge Fresh Futures Hair & Beauty Lounge is a professional hair and beauty business providing hairdressing, hair styling, braiding and related beauty services to a diverse clientele. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Hairdresser / Hair Braider to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering high-quality hairdressing and specialist braiding services while providing excellent customer service and maintaining professional salon standards.

About the Role

\n

This is a genuine full-time position of approximately 38 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to provide professional hairdressing and hair-braiding services, including styling and protective hairstyles, while contributing to the day-to-day operation of Fresh Futures Hair & Beauty Lounge.

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Provide professional hairdressing and hair-styling services to clients.
\n
• Perform African and contemporary hair-braiding techniques.
\n
• Create box braids, knotless braids, cornrows and twists.
\n
• Provide protective hairstyles for natural and textured hair.
\n
• Install hair extensions and other hair additions where appropriately trained.
\n
• Shampoo, condition, dry and prepare clients' hair.
\n
• Perform hair cutting, trimming and styling within the employee's qualifications and competencies.
\n
• Conduct client consultations and recommend suitable hairstyles.
\n
• Provide professional hair-care and aftercare advice.
\n
• Maintain clean, hygienic and organised workstations.
\n
• Clean and sanitise salon tools and equipment.
\n
• Maintain professional standards of personal presentation.
\n
• Follow workplace health and safety requirements.
\n
• Manage appointments and complete services within reasonable timeframes.
\n
• Maintain positive relationships with clients.
\n
• Assist with salon opening, closing and general operations.
\n
• Assist with stock management and product recommendations.
\n
• Work cooperatively with other salon employees.
\n
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
\n

Essential Skills and Experience Applicants should have

• Relevant hairdressing qualification and/or substantial relevant industry experience.
\n
• Demonstrated professional hair-braiding experience.
\n
• Strong practical knowledge of African/textured hair and protective hairstyles.
\n
• Ability to work with different hair types and textures.
\n
• Excellent attention to detail.
\n
• Good communication and customer service skills.
\n
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
\n
• Strong time-management skills.
\n
• Professional and reliable work practices.
\n

Highly Desirable Experience

\n

\n
• Experience in African hair braiding (Box braids, Knotless braids, Cornrows, Senegalese twists, Natural hair care, Hair extensions, Weaves, Protective hairstyles).
\n
• Contemporary women's hairstyling will be highly regarded.
\n
