What You'll Be Doing

This position plans, coordinates, and implements in depth assessments and tailored exercise programs for Mental Health inpatients. The position uses the principles of Trauma Informed Care and Recovery in their work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team in order to provide a high quality service to people receiving care in the mental health inpatient units.

Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in an exercise science related field with eligibility for accreditation as an exercise physiologist with ESSA and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional education and development. Professionals who fall under the Health Professionals State Award must provide evidence of three years' clinical experience in their profession to be appointed at a Level 2.
• Post graduate experience as an exercise physiologist managing the physical activity needs and behaviours of people with mental health related issues, to contribute to improved health outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clinical Exercise Physiology services within the scope of practice of the position.
• Sound clinical reasoning and decision making; strong organisational and time management skills and demonstrated ability to work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated effective communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, challenges and concerns when communicating with others.
• Knowledge and understanding of person centred care, evidenced based practice and quality improvement.
• Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Trauma Informed Care and Recovery principles when developing and implementing exercise physiology care plans to people with mental health issues.
• Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
