ACT public schools educate more than 50,000 students across 93 schools including early childhood schools, preschools, primary schools, high schools, colleges and specialist school settings.

Through our Strong Foundations program, we are delivering a consistent evidence-based approach to learning across ACT public schools. This program is implementing 10 proven teaching strategies – including explicit literacy and numeracy instruction – and a standard assessment schedule from kindergarten to year 10, keeping wellbeing and learning outcomes at the centre of every student’s journey.

As a primary teacher in an ACT public school, you will:

• Inspire and teach students from kindergarten to year 6 using the Australian Curriculum (V9.0).
\n
• Foster positive relationships with students, colleagues and the wider school community.
\n
• Join a collaborative and supportive team focused on student wellbeing and achieving student learning outcomes.
\n
• Apply teaching strategies and curriculum knowledge to drive improved student outcomes.
\n
• Bring well-developed classroom management, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
\n
• Support students’ diverse needs, creating an inclusive classroom where every student feels valued and supported.
\n
• Contribute to whole-school initiatives and contribute to and foster a positive school culture.

What we’re looking for:

\n

\n
• Primary expertise : Strong curriculum knowledge and a proven focus on effective literacy and numeracy pedagogies.
\n
• Qualifications and experience: A recognised tertiary teaching qualification and experience working with primary-aged students.
\n
• Passion for teaching: A genuine desire to see students thrive and succeed in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Eligibility requirements:

\n

To apply, you must have:

• A recognised 4-year full-time tertiary teaching qualification.
\n
• ACT Teacher Quality Institute Teacher Registration (or eligibility to apply).
\n
• Valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration (or eligibility to apply).
\n
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid working visa.
\n
• Your resume/CV detailing your experience and teaching qualifications.
\n
• Your academic transcripts (preferably certified).
\n
• Evidence of your current teacher registration or, if you are still studying, evidence of enrolment in an accredited initial teacher education course.
\n
• Contact details for two teaching referees.
