About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-focused Finance Officer to join our Finance & Accounting team. This is a hands-on finance role supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the Archdiocese. You will work across accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, financial transactions, reporting and general finance administration while providing responsive support to internal stakeholders. The role offers plenty of variety and is well suited to someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and contributing to an experienced and collaborative finance team.

Key Responsibilities
As Finance Officer, you will:

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and process invoices, payments, receipts and financial transactions.
• Complete bank, account and general ledger reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies and outstanding financial items.
• Assist with month-end and year-end finance processes.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with financial reporting, journals and account adjustments.
• Respond to finance enquiries and provide professional support to stakeholders.
• Ensure transactions comply with relevant policies, procedures and delegated authorities.
• Assist with audit, compliance and reporting requirements.
• Support the wider Finance & Accounting team with general financial administration and projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies.

About You
You will be a reliable and organised finance professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Previous experience in a Finance Officer, Accounts Officer, Accounts Payable/Receivable or similar role.
• Sound knowledge of general accounting and financial processes.
• Experience with reconciliations, financial transactions and reporting.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Experience using accounting, finance or ERP systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.
• a current Paid Blue Card and National Criminal History Check (or ability to obtain both)
