The Position \n

Reporting to the Supervisor Refractory, successful applicants will be responsible for carrying out refractory installation, maintenance, demolition and associated civil works across multiple fixed plant assets in a heavy industrial environment.

\n

This role requires flexibility to work both day and night shift rosters, including shutdowns, breakdown maintenance and project work.

Key Responsibilities: \n

\n
• Refractory bricklaying and furnace lining installation
\n
• Partial and full relines of furnaces, converters, launders and process vessels
\n
• Installation and repair of refractory castables
\n
• Cold gunning and hot gunning operations
\n
• Ramming works and refractory patching
\n
• Acid proof brick and lining installation
\n
• Refractory demolition using hand tools and mechanical equipment
\n
• Brokk robotic demolition operation
\n
• Reading and interpreting refractory drawings and installation procedures
\n
• Working safely within confined spaces, hot work environments and shutdown conditions
\n
• General labouring and all aspects of civil construction associated with refractory maintenance activities
\n
• Maintaining high housekeeping and safety standards across all work areas
\n

Skills & Experience To be successful in this role you will possess: \n

\n
• Trade qualification in Bricklaying/Refractory or demonstrated refractory industry experience
\n
• Experience working within smelters, mineral processing plants, refineries, steelworks or heavy industry environments
\n
• Experience in refractory installation, demolition and maintenance
\n

Experience with \n

\n
• Castables
\n
• Gunning processes
\n
• Ramming applications
\n
• Acid proof lining systems
\n
• Furnace and vessel relines
\n
• Brokk operating experience highly regarded
\n
• Ability to interpret refractory drawings and technical specifications
\n
• Strong commitment to safety and hazard awareness
\n
• Ability to work effectively within shutdown and maintenance teams
\n
• Physically fit and capable of manual work in demanding environments
\n
• Willingness to work rotating day and night shift rosters
\n
