About the Role
This Clinical Quality & Compliance Advisor role will work across two residential aged care homes in Mackay, supporting clinical governance, quality management, risk, accreditation and compliance across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Quality and the Operations Manager, you will work closely with clinical, operational and site-based leaders to strengthen systems, improve care outcomes and support regulatory readiness.
A key focus of this role will be mentoring and training staff. You will provide practical education, coaching and guidance to managers and clinical teams across quality, compliance, clinical governance, audits, incident management, documentation and continuous improvement.
The role can be offered as either a permanent position or a 9-12 month contract, depending on candidate preference.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting clinical governance across two residential aged care homes
• Monitoring compliance with aged care legislation and regulatory requirements
• Supporting accreditation preparation, audits and regulatory reviews
• Coordinating continuous improvement activities and action plans
• Conducting clinical and compliance audits across key care areas
• Reviewing clinical data, quality indicators, trends and organisational risks
• Supporting incident management, SIRS reviews and investigation processes
• Assisting with root cause analysis and corrective action planning
• Reviewing complaints, feedback and consumer experience data
• Supporting policy and procedure review, development and implementation
• Preparing quality and compliance reports for senior leadership
• Coaching, mentoring and training managers and clinical teams
• Promoting accountability, resident-centred care and continuous improvement

About You
You will be an AHPRA-registered Registered Nurse with strong experience in aged care quality, clinical governance, compliance, accreditation or risk management.
You will bring a practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to work across multiple sites. You will be comfortable conducting audits, interpreting data, preparing reports and helping teams translate quality requirements into everyday practice.
Most importantly, you will have strong mentoring and training skills. This role needs someone who can build confidence, guide staff constructively and support leaders to embed sustainable quality and compliance practices.

To be considered, you will need:

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum three years’ experience in aged care, quality, governance or compliance
• Strong knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards
• Understanding of aged care legislation and regulatory requirements
• Experience conducting clinical audits and quality improvement activities
• Knowledge of clinical risk management and incident investigation
• Experience with accreditation preparation and compliance monitoring
• Strong mentoring, coaching and training capability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills
• Advanced computer literacy and quality management system experience
• Current National Police Check

Highly regarded:

• Qualification in Quality Management, Clinical Governance or Health Management
• Lead Auditor qualification
• Experience with SIRS and restrictive practices
• Residential aged care accreditation experience
• Training in Root Cause Analysis or Human Factors methodologies
