Onyx Legal is a boutique corporate and commercial law firm in North Lakes, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Lawyer to take the reins of our Corporate & Commercial practice team. This isn't a role where you'll get lost in the machine — you'll have real ownership, a genuine say in how the team works, and a direct line to our Principal.

About the role \n

You'll manage a varied caseload of corporate and commercial matters — think business transactions, corporate structuring, and commercial contracts — with some crossover into intellectual property and employment law. You'll be the senior point of contact for a number of our existing clients, and you'll supervise and mentor a small team of lawyers and paralegals along the way. You'll report directly to our Principal, with real visibility and influence over how the practice runs.

You read situations and interpersonal dynamics well and build trust quickly. You work collaboratively and contribute positively to our team dynamic.

  Admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia (current QLD, or mutually recognised, practising certificate).

\n
• \n

  5–8 years' post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law.

\n
• \n

  Comfortable running your own caseload and confident advising clients directly.

\n
• \n

  Some experience supervising, mentoring or managing junior lawyers or paralegals.

\n
• \n

  A collaborative, people-first mindset — you'll help set the tone for the team, not just fill a seat.

\n
• \n

  Bonus points for exposure to intellectual property or employment law, experience in a small-to-medium firm, or a small client base.

\n
