About the Role

Yappera Children’s Service Cooperative is seeking a caring, reliable and experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our team on a full-time basis.

The successful applicant will provide day-to-day care and supervision for young children, support their wellbeing and development, and assist with age-appropriate activities in a safe, inclusive and nurturing childcare environment.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working directly with children, works well as part of a team and is seeking a stable position with a genuine long-term commitment to the service, children and families.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Providing attentive day-to-day care and supervision to children throughout the childcare program.
  • Supporting children during daily routines, including meals, rest periods, toileting, transitions and personal care.
  • Organising and participating in age-appropriate play, learning and recreational activities that encourage children's development and engagement.
  • Preparing activity areas, educational materials, toys and equipment for children's indoor and outdoor experiences.
  • Supervising children during indoor and outdoor play and ensuring they remain safe and appropriately supported.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping children develop appropriate social skills, independence and respectful relationships with others.
  • Engaging children through activities such as reading, storytelling, creative play, games, music, movement and group activities.
  • Supporting children's physical, emotional, social, cognitive and communication development through everyday interactions and experiences.
  • Monitoring children's wellbeing, behaviour and developmental progress and recording relevant observations as required by the service.
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of children's hygiene, health and personal care and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Maintaining clean, safe and organised play, learning and care environments in accordance with health and safety requirements.
  • Building positive and respectful relationships with children and responding sensitively to their individual backgrounds, abilities and needs.
  • Communicating appropriately with parents and families regarding children's daily routines, participation, wellbeing and general progress.
  • Working cooperatively with other educators, room leaders and service staff to provide consistent care and support for children.
  • Following the service's policies and procedures, child safety requirements and applicable early childhood education and care regulations and standards.

Applicants must have:

  • A minimum Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or a relevant equivalent qualification.
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant full-time work experience in childcare, early childhood education and care, or a closely related setting.
  • A sound understanding of the care and developmental needs of young children.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • An understanding of child safety, health, hygiene and wellbeing requirements.
  • A current Working with Children Check and any other mandatory clearances required for the position.

About You

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Reliable, responsible and punctual.
  • Caring, patient and attentive when working with children.
  • Professional and respectful in dealing with children, families and colleagues.
  • Able to follow established routines, policies and workplace procedures.
  • A supportive and dependable team member.
  • Flexible and willing to assist across the service when required.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of care and child safety.
  • Interested in ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Looking for a stable, long-term position and able to demonstrate a genuine long-term commitment to the organisation.
