Join the Women and Children's Social Work Team at Nepean Hospital and play a vital role in supporting the psychological, emotional and social wellbeing of patients and their families.

\n

As a Social Worker, you will manage referrals across a diverse range of Women and Children's services, including Women and Children Outpatient Clinics, Postnatal and Ante-natal Wards, the Birthing Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Paediatric Ward, Foetal Monitoring and Assessment Unit, gynaecology services, Safe Start, and child physical abuse and neglect assessments within the Emergency Department. Working closely with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams, you will identify and address psychosocial issues that impact wellbeing, treatment and hospitalisation.

This rewarding role involves supporting patients and families experiencing complex circumstances including domestic violence, child protection, mental health, post-natal depression, drug and alcohol, homelessness, grief and bereavement, neonatal deaths and emotional distress. You will also provide advocacy, counselling, discharge planning support, liaison with government agencies and community services, and assistance for vulnerable families navigating challenging situations.

What you will bring to the role

\n

\n
• Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
\n
• Experience working with women and children, including demonstrated skills in advocacy, mediation and conflict resolution
\n
• Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to domestic violence, adolescent pregnancy and drugs in pregnancy
\n
• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and applications of child protection guidelines
\n
• Demonstrated knowledge of grief and loss issues
\n
• Demonstrated ability to time manage efficiently
\n
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi- disciplinary team
\n
• High level of written and oral communication skills and basic computer skills
