Monash Children’s Hospital is part of Monash Health, Victoria’s largest healthcare service and one of only four accredited Academic Health Science Centres in Australia. Monash Children’s Hospital is a network of paediatric healthcare services across three sites – our main campus in Clayton (co-located with Monash Medical Centre) and satellite sites at Dandenong and Casey Hospitals. Monash Children’s Hospital is also the Victorian Referral Centre for many low-volume and high-complex cases. Our services are linked to an adult service, allowing us to provide transition-of-care as children grow older and move to an adult service. • Family member communication, feedback and liaison

• Participation in review of clinical incidents to improve quality and safety, including Riskman.
• Contribute to quality and safety improvements, including the creation and maintenance of guidelines .

• Compliance with mandatory and required training including ISBAR, Fire Training, I belong, Hand Hygiene, Aseptic Technique, Patient Centred Care, Basic Life Support, Blood Transfusion training module, medication safety and others as per Monash Health Learning System

About the Role

To provide excellent care of children and their families admitted under Paediatric General Medicine Unit at Monash Children’s Hospital Clayton and contribute to Unit activities as required.

Participation in the unit education program encouraged.

Key result areas:

• Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
• Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
• Participation in the weekend roster covering General Paediatric Units.
• Be immediately available during rostered hours for urgent consultation and assistance in resuscitation and subsequent management of critically ill or injured patients.
• Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both undergraduate and postgraduate) roles in the General Paediatric Unit, Monash Health.
• Support the General Paediatric Unit’s outreach services within Monash Health
• Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible General Paediatric Services within allocated resources and meets the needs of Monash Health patients.
• Supervise junior medical staff as rostered.

0.14 EFT (5 hours per week, 10 hours per fortnight).

There are 4 positions available. 2 positions aligned to Team A and 2 to Team B. The 5 hours per week are averaged over a 4 week rolling roster of 1 x 3h session 0900-1200 per week, 3 of which will be as inpatient support consultant and 1 of which will be a general paediatric outpatient clinic and one weekend of a 3h support consultant shift on Saturday and Sunday 0900 – 1200.

Educational opportunities include a regular Tuesday General Paediatrics Team Meeting at 12:30 – 13:30, weekly radiology meetings, Grand Round presentations, and resident/student teaching if desired.

About You

What you need:

• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications (FRACP or equivalent)
• Working with Children's Certificate
• Recent/substantial experience in both General Paediatric and Neonatal management.
• Experience in HITH is desirable
