The Child Health and Parenting Service is seeking a Lead Psychologist to join our new residential unit.

\n

The Team

\n

The Child Health and Parenting Service provides Primary Healthcare services to Families in Tasmania with children under the age of five, including health and development assessment, connection to other services, and a wide range of Parenting Support. The new Intensive Residential Parenting Unit will add to the current community support available, offering families the option of admission to a residential setting with focussed support for a wide range of parenting concerns, including parent and caregiver mental health and wellbeing. The unit is staffed by a nursing-led multidisciplinary team, working alongside the wider CHaPS network and with core connections with services across the Tasmanian service landscape, to deliver co-ordinated, comprehensive care in partnership with families.

The Role

\n

As the Clinical Lead Psychologist within the Intensive Residential Parenting Unit, you will provide specialist psychological assessment, intervention and care coordination for parents and caregivers experiencing challenges to their mental health and wellbeing. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, you will lead the planning and delivery of care for families, provide expert clinical advice, build strong partnerships with internal and external service providers, and contribute to the development of policies, programs and services that support positive outcomes for parents, infants and families. You will also play a key leadership role through supervision, mentoring and quality improvement activities.

You will need

• Extensive experience and clinical expertise in perinatal, parental and infant mental health.
\n
• Experience coordinating psychological care and developing holistic support plans for families in community and/or residential settings.
\n
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with health and community service providers.
\n
• Demonstrated leadership experience within a multidisciplinary team, including the ability to support, supervise and guide staff.
\n
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide expert advice to professionals, caregivers and families.
\n
• A commitment to continuous improvement, evidence-based practice and delivering high-quality family-centred care.
\n

Details of appointment

\n

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

\n

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

\n

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

$131,122 to $138,984 per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025

• Please note that access to salaries beyond $135,445 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
\n

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Professional Development Allowance of up to $1200 per annum, paid on a fortnightly, pro rata basis.
\n

\n

• Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.
\n
• Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.
\n
• Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

• Hold or is working towards postgraduate qualifications and/or other accredited training in the area of perinatal and infant mental health.
