From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.****About the Role:**We are seeking a skilled and motivated **Maintenance Worker** to join our Property Aged Care and play a crucial role in supporting The Salvation Army’s diverse initiatives nationwide. This is a **Max Term (12 months) – Part time (22.8 hours/ week)** position based in **Bethany Aged Care Plus Centre (Port Macquarie, NSW).****Purpose of the Role:**As a collaborative member of the staff team, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the general maintenance of the internal and external environment of the site. They will ensure that the provision of essential safety, preventative and breakdown maintenance is undertaken in consultation with Leadership roles within the organisation. The Maintenance Worker will complete regulatory equipment checks and assist with a variety of housekeeping and support service functions to ensure optimum standards in the physical environment of the site.**Key Roles and Responsibilities:*** Undertaking basic repairs to building, equipment and assets and similar items not calling for trades skills or knowledge* Respond, update and action maintenance requests via maintenance ticketing system* Carry out physical inspections of property and premises, assets and equipment, safety and compliance* Providing support to your line manager to achieve quality, efficient and effective output by contractors dealing with property and asset related service delivery* Ensure all essential safety requirements including fire safety, electrical and other legislative tasks are carried out in accordance with standards, policies, and legislation* Ensure corrective and preventative maintenance activities are completed as scheduled and within the required time frames* Maintain a safe and aesthetically pleasant environment for all residents, visitors, and staff* Act as a role model in promoting The Salvation Army Aged Care Vision, Mission and Values**Education and Qualifications Required:*** Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the aged care industry, including the application of the Aged Care Quality & Safety Standards, especially Standard 4 (The Environment)* An understanding of building compliance and certification* Demonstrated ability in the effective understanding and execution of:* Building and grounds maintenance* Workplace Health and Safety* Risk and hazard management* Contractor management* Time management* Demonstrated understanding and proven ability to select and use suitable tools and techniques, including a strong knowledge of electrical power tools and hand tools**Requirements of the role:*** National Police Check* Valid Drivers license* NDIS check**What we offer*** As a registered NFP we offer our eligible employees real and meaningful benefits such as;* NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefit ($2,650)* Flexible working conditions* Health, fitness and financial discounts / benefits* Paid parental leave - 12 weeks* Up to 8 weeks leave per year through our purchase leave scheme* Up to 5 days paid leave per year to ‘volunteer’ in a TSA program or activity* Purpose driven career which has positive social and sustainable outcomes* Employee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling service, opportunity for career development;* An inclusive culture of dedicated, passionate and professional team members* Positively supporting and impacting the lives of others through your career contribution.***The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people.*** ***We value people of all cultures, languages, capacities, sexual orientations, gender identities and/or expressions.
