About our Opportunity \n

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Breezway R&D team at our Brisbane manufacturing facility. Reporting to the R&D Manager, this role will play a key part in the development of innovative products from concept through to testing, validation and production, working closely with our in-house Industrial Designer to evaluate design concepts and develop practical engineering solutions.

\n

This is an ideal opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Technician with minimum year of industry experience. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, is hands-on in their approach and wants to see their ideas evolve into finished products.

\n

You will be involved in front-end concept engineering, prototype development, testing, compliance validation and production implementation. You'll help bring new products to life while supporting continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities \n

    \n
  • Support the development of new products from concept through to commercialisation.
  • \n
  • Create, assemble and evaluate prototypes to validate design performance.
  • \n
  • Conduct testing, experiments and product evaluations to ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and performance requirements.
  • \n
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, specifications and testing records.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to validate component and product designs, including motors, electronics and other assemblies.
  • \n
  • Oversee product development activities through design, validation, testing and final implementation.
  • \n
  • Support compliance testing of window frames, assemblies and related products.
  • \n
  • Identify opportunities for product enhancement, cost reduction and process improvement.
  • \n
  • Assist with the development of quality specifications for components and assemblies.
  • \n
  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement initiatives across production and manufacturing processes.
  • \n
  • Support the implementation of new production processes and manufacturing improvements.
  • \n

About You \n

You will have recently completed or at a minimum be working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline, or a minimum three years of relevant industry experience.

  • Has a passion for product development, problem-solving and innovation.

  • Enjoys taking ownership of projects and seeing them through from concept to completion.
  • \n
  • Has a hands-on approach and enjoys working within a manufacturing environment.
  • \n
  • Is interested in both front-end engineering design and back-end validation, testing and implementation.
  • \n
  • Possesses CAD experience, preferably using SolidWorks.
  • \n
  • Has strong technical documentation, reporting and communication skills.
  • \n
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and compliance.
  • \n
  • Is eager to learn and develop under the guidance of an experienced R&D team.
  • \n
  • Has exposure to manufacturing environments involving windows, plastics, electronics, glass products or similar industries (highly regarded but not essential).
  • \n
  • Brings creativity and curiosity, with a genuine interest in developing new ideas and engineering solutions.
  • \n
