About the role \n

New Farm Deli & Cafe is seeking an experienced and dynamic Deli Manager to lead our deli operations and deliver exceptional service to our valued customers. This is a full-time position based in New Farm, QLD 4005 . As Deli Manager, you will oversee all aspects of deli operations, including staff supervision, inventory management, food quality standards and customer service excellence. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our deli remains a thriving hub within the community whilst maintaining our reputation for quality products and outstanding customer experience.

Key responsibilities \n

• Oversee daily deli operations and maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation
\n
• Supervise, train, schedule and motivate deli staff to ensure exceptional customer service and operational efficiency
\n
• Manage inventory, ordering and stock rotation to minimise waste and maintain product availability
\n
• Monitor and control food costs whilst maintaining quality standards and profit margins
\n
• Prepare and serve deli products including meats, cheeses and prepared foods with expertise and attention to detail
\n
• Ensure compliance with all food handling regulations, health codes and company policies
\n
• Handle cash handling and point-of-sale operations accurately and securely
\n
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through personalised service and product recommendations
\n
• Identify opportunities to enhance deli offerings and develop new menu items or promotions
\n
• Report to management on operational performance, staffing issues and customer feedback
\n

What we're looking for \n

• Proven experience managing a deli or food service department within a retail environment
\n
• Strong knowledge of deli products including meats, cheeses, prepared foods and related offerings
\n
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead a team effectively, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
\n
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and handle customer inquiries professionally
\n
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations and health code compliance
\n
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
\n
• Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software
\n
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
\n
• Reliable, punctual and able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and weekends as required
\n
• Relevant qualifications such as Food Safety Certification or equivalent are highly desirable
