About Orica

About the role

We're looking for a hands-on Technician - UG Mining Equipment (HcD Technician) to join our Mining Services team based in Perth, WA.

In this role, you'll support Orica's underground blasting machinery and customer-operated systems through maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment commissioning, and technical support across Western Australia and South Australia.

This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically‑minded people looking to apply their skills in a new industry. Whether you are experienced or not, we'll train and support you to develop your knowledge of underground blasting operations and our specialised mining equipment.

Working on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, you'll fly to Orica locations across Western Australia, enjoying a high level of autonomy while providing technical support and training to our valued customers.

What you will be doing

  • Service, maintain and repair underground blasting equipment, including Hypercharge Drive Units (HcD).
  • Find and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and system faults.
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers on‑site and over the phone.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and help customers minimise operational downtime.
  • Carry out equipment inspections, routine servicing and maintenance audits.
  • Assist with installing, testing and commissioning new equipment.
  • Build strong relationships with customers through reliable service and support.
  • Keep accurate service records and work safely in line with site, customer and Orica requirements.

What you will bring

We're open to candidates from different backgrounds who can demonstrate:

  • Strong hands‑on experience in maintaining mobile or fixed plant equipment;
  • Knowledge and skills in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems;
  • Ability to diagnose issues and solve problems independently;
  • Confidence working on‑site and managing your own workload;
  • Clear communication skills when supporting customers or teams;
  • A safety‑first mindset and understanding of safe work practices.

What we offer

At Orica, we believe in growing together. You’ll learn from experienced mentors, work in a team that values respect for people and the land, and build a career in a safe, supportive environment.

We offer competitive remuneration, meaningful career pathways, and a culture that celebrates diversity, collaboration and continuous improvement.
