First Nations Trainee – Community Engagement Officer

About the role:

• Part-time 3 days per week fixed contract for 12 months, located in Nambucca Heads NSW
• Base hourly rate of $31.35 plus 12% super and access to NFP salary packaging options
• This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. All applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977

What you will be doing:

Working alongside experienced community services professionals, you’ll:

• Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities access services, opportunities and support
• Help strengthen connections between First Nations people, culture, community and local services
• Assist with community events, cultural activities and engagement programs that bring people together
• Build trusted relationships with community members, Elders, stakeholders and local organisations
• Learn administration, communication and coordination skills
• Promote participation, inclusion and positive outcome for First Nations people

What we are looking for?

You don’t need years of experience. We want to hear from you if you:

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
• Current drivers licence and NSW WWCC
• Are interested in helping people and giving back to community
• Enjoy meeting people and building relationships
• Are eager to learn and grow professionallyCan communicate respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
• Are willing to complete a traineeship qualification
