Ginger's Kitchen Pty Ltd, trading as Batch Cookie Bar, is seeking an experienced and passionate Pastry Cook to join our team at our Uptown (Former Myer Centre) location in Brisbane City.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality pastry and baked goods, has strong attention to detail, and can work efficiently in a busy production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and produce cookies, cakes, pastries, breads and other baked products according to the business's recipes and quality standards.
  • Set up the pastry kitchen and make sure benches, utensils, ovens and equipment are clean, safe and ready for daily production.
  • Select, measure and prepare ingredients accurately, checking that all ingredients are fresh and meet quality requirements.
  • Prepare pastry dough and fillings, and carry out mixing, rolling, cutting, shaping and portioning as required.
  • Manage baking batches from preparation through to oven loading, baking, cooling and final presentation.
  • Monitor oven settings, baking times and product appearance to ensure products are consistently baked to the required standard.
  • Finish and present products by glazing, icing, decorating and adding other required toppings or finishes.
  • Use commercial baking and pastry equipment safely and efficiently, including dough rollers, moulding equipment and biscuit-cutting machinery.
  • Prepare and maintain baking trays, tins and other equipment, including cleaning and greasing them between production runs.
  • Keep the production area clean and organised throughout the day and complete cleaning tasks at the end of production.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures at all times.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to organise daily production and ensure orders are completed on time.
  • Maintain consistent standards for the taste, texture, size, appearance and overall quality of finished products.
  • Assist with adjusting production quantities and preparation based on daily requirements and stock levels.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Formal Qualification or Certificate in Pastrymaking/baking
  • Previous experience working as a Pastry Cook or in a similar commercial baking/pastry environment.
  • Strong knowledge of pastry and baking techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good understanding of food safety, workplace health and safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • A reliable, positive and professional attitude.
