The NSW Ministry of Health is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the NSW health system. The Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs (CAOD) leads policy, strategy, planning and investment to strengthen alcohol and other drug services across NSW.

\n

An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Policy Officer to join the Systems Performance and Planning Team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to statewide initiatives that support evidence-based service planning, performance monitoring and system improvement for alcohol and other drug (AOD) services.

\n

About the role

\n

The Assistant Policy Officer supports the delivery of strategic service planning, performance monitoring and funding policy activities across the NSW alcohol and other drugs sector.

\n

Working closely with policy officers, managers and key stakeholders across NSW Health, the role provides administrative and project support, assists in the development of policy and briefing materials, and contributes to initiatives that ensure AOD services are planned, funded and monitored to meet the needs of the NSW community.

\n

What you'll be doing

\n

You will:

\n

Provide high-quality administrative and project support to the Systems Performance and Planning Team.

\n

Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, record minutes and support stakeholder engagement activities.

\n

Assist in the development of policy documents, ministerial and parliamentary briefs, correspondence, presentations and reports.

\n

Contribute to projects that support evidence-based service and workforce planning for AOD services.

\n

Assist in sourcing and analysing information relating to AOD funding, system performance and emerging policy issues.

\n

Support reporting processes relating to strategic priorities and performance indicators.

\n

Collaborate with stakeholders across the Ministry of Health, Local Health Districts and the non-government sector.

\n

Help maintain effective systems and processes that support complex analytical and communication activities.

\n

About you

\n

We are looking for a highly organised and motivated individual who demonstrates:

\n

Experience providing administrative support for government policy, program or project work.

\n

Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and accurate documents, briefs and correspondence.

\n

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.

\n

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

\n

Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.

\n

An interest in health policy, service planning, performance reporting or public health.

\n

The ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

\n

Significant experience providing comprehensive administrative support for government policy, program and project work.

\n
