About This Opportunity

The UQ Library is seeking a Research Output and Impact Specialist to help researchers understand, evidence, and communicate the reach and influence of their work. Collaborating with teams in the Library, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), faculties and research institutes, you'll provide expert advice, training and reporting services that support research planning and evaluation, and informed decision-making across the University.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Provide leadership, training and support to Library staff and others in the University on research metrics, bibliometrics, altmetrics, and research evaluation.
\n
• In close collaboration with the Faculty Services Librarian team, initiate and maintain relationships with individual researchers and/or research units to promote and enhance research output and impact services.
\n
• Deliver high-quality reports, training resources, and recommendations to support researchers and research units applying for grant applications, and with research planning and evaluation activities.
\n
• Develop and maintain relationships with research service stakeholders internal and external to UQ.
\n
• Contribut to University and Library projects that strengthen researcher and staff capability in metrics, engagement and impact services
\n
• Provide advice, recommendations and support to the Manager, Research Outputs and Impact, and deputise for the Manager as required.
\n
• Actively participate in University or Government research evaluation programs.
\n
• Contribute as an effective Library team member including leading and/or participating in planning activities and the delivery of team and broader Library goals.

About You

\n

Our ideal candidate will have:

\n

\n
• A University degree with substantial experience in a University Library or research support environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
\n
• Substantial knowledge and experience providing high level services to support and enhance activities relating to research evaluation, research outputs, and bibliometrics with confidence using relevant reporting tools and current technologies.
\n
• In depth knowledge and awareness of the research environment and current issues in Australian higher education relating to research, and an understanding and awareness of the role and potential role of a University Library in supporting its institutional activities.
\n
• Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated emotional intelligence and the ability to negotiate, consult and effectively build relationships to engage diverse groups including library staff, researchers, professional staff and external stakeholders.
\n
• Experience working in environments requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, including written reports and presentations.
\n
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manipulate numeric data, statistics and bibliometric indicators.
\n
• Drive and enthusiasm with a strong work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile to accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment.
\n
• Excellent team player working collaboratively with others, with a positive and cooperative attitude, and a mindset of inclusivity and support for colleagues.
\n
• Excellent organisation skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks or projects effectively against differing timelines or changing priorities.
