Hunter Primary Care (HPC) is a not for profit organisation committed to improving health outcomes and reducing disadvantage across the communities we serve. We work with partner organisations to deliver accessible, high quality primary and mental health services.

In association with Grand Pacific Health (GPH), Hunter Primary Care is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to provide vital support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, in a brand new Medicare Mental Health service.

About the Position
This is a permanent full-time opportunity, with ADO accrual available.

  • The primary purpose of the Community Engagement Officer role is to coordinate community awareness raising activities in the region that:
  • Promotes and enhances understanding of the services offered at Medicare Mental Health including referral pathways
  • Promotes early help seeking to improve access to health and other services for priority populations
  • Ensures information is available to consumers, their families and the local community is accessible and easy to understand

This role is based at Tamworth and covers both the Tamworth and Armidale centres.

Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with:

  1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in community development, health promotion, public health, social sciences or education
  2. Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating community engagement or health promotion strategies.
  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including public speaking.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the needs of people experiencing mental health challenges and diverse populations.
