Join us in leading national health promotion initiatives, strategic partnerships, and sector-wide impact.

\n

The National Project Manager is a leadership role responsible for driving the implementation of AHPA's strategic priorities through high-level project management, stakeholder engagement, advocacy coordination, and partnership development.

\n

Working closely with the AHPA Board, Branches, members, government stakeholders, and sector partners, the role will lead national initiatives that strengthen the visibility, influence, sustainability, and impact of health promotion across Australia.

\n

This newly designed role reflects AHPA's continued growth and evolution as Australia's peak body for health promotion. It combines strategic leadership, advocacy coordination, and organisational development to support the advancement of health promotion policy, practice, and workforce development nationally.

\n

The position is suited to an experienced professional with demonstrated expertise in health promotion, strategic project delivery, cross-sector collaboration, policy and advocacy coordination, and stakeholder engagement within health promotion, public health, or related sectors.

Position Purpose

\n

The National Project Manager is responsible for leading AHPA's strategic projects, operational planning, organisational administration, and stakeholder coordination activities.

\n

The role provides organisational and operational leadership across AHPA's national activities and is responsible for ensuring projects, governance processes, partnerships, communications, events, and organisational systems are effectively planned, coordinated, implemented, and evaluated.

\n

The position plays a critical role in supporting AHPA's organisational effectiveness, strategic growth, national profile, and long-term sustainability.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

Strategic Project Planning and Delivery

\n

Lead the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of AHPA strategic initiatives and national projects.

\n

Develop and manage detailed project plans, operational timelines, budgets, risk management strategies, reporting frameworks, and evaluation processes.

\n

Coordinate multiple concurrent projects and priorities while ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes and organisational objectives.

\n

Monitor progress against strategic and operational priorities and provide regular reports to the AHPA Board.

\n

Identify opportunities to improve organisational systems, processes, efficiency, and project delivery mechanisms.

\n

Support organisational sustainability through strategic planning, operational oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives.

\n

Organisational Operations and Administration

\n

Oversee AHPA's day-to-day organisational operations and administrative functions to ensure efficient and effective business processes.

\n

Coordinate governance and administrative activities including meeting preparation, agendas, minutes, action tracking, reporting, and follow-up activities.

\n

Maintain organisational systems, records, policies, procedures, and operational documentation.

\n

Coordinate organisational calendars, reporting schedules, compliance requirements, and operational workflows.

\n

Support the administration of AHPA scholarships, awards, events, membership activities, committee support and professional development initiatives.

\n

Manage and coordinate AHPA's digital systems and operational platforms including website, communications systems, file management systems, and online collaboration tools.

\n

Liaison with AHPA's contracted secretariat services - The Association Specialists.

\n

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships

\n

Build and maintain strong relationships with AHPA members, Branches, Working Groups, government stakeholders, sector partners, and external organisations.

\n

Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities and support collaborative partnerships that strengthen AHPA's national profile and influence.

\n

Represent AHPA at meetings, forums, consultations, conferences, and sector events as required.

\n

Support communication and collaboration across AHPA governance structures, committees, and membership networks.

\n

Coordinate engagement activities that strengthen member connection, retention, and participation.

\n

Advocacy, Communications and Sector Coordination

\n

Support AHPA advocacy and policy activities in collaboration with the AHPA Board and Working Groups.

\n

Assist in the preparation and coordination of submissions, briefing papers, reports, policy documents, newsletters, and organisational communications.

\n

Coordinate strategic communications activities across AHPA's website, e-newsletters, social media platforms, and member communications.

\n

Monitor developments relevant to health promotion and identify opportunities for AHPA engagement and visibility.

\n

Support national events, campaigns, professional development activities, and sector engagement initiatives.

\n

Capabilities

\n

Qualifications and Experience

\n

Qualifications in health promotion, public health, project management, management, communications, public policy, business administration, or related disciplines.

\n

Minimum 5 years' experience in health promotion, public health, project coordination, operations, administration, or related sectors.

\n

Experience working within member-based organisations, professional associations, not-for-profit organisations, universities, government, or related sectors.

\n

Skills and Knowledge

\n

Demonstrates high-level organisational, administrative, and project management skills.

\n

Proven ability to plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate projects and operational activities.

\n

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.

\n

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

\n

High attention to detail and strong documentation, reporting, and record management capability.

\n

Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain effective systems, processes, and operational workflows.

Experience preparing agendas, minutes, reports, briefing papers, project documentation, and operational correspondence.

High-level digital literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, online collaboration platforms, project management systems, and communications tools.

Understanding of the Australian and international health promotion landscape.
