Our client is a premium health racquets and lifestyle club operator running some of the most impressive facilities in the country. Theyre looking for a Fitness Manager in Canberra to lead the gym floor and Personal Training teams at a genuinely luxurious club and to drive the rollout of a brand new PT model launching in 2026.
This is a rare one because its a leadership role with real room to build rather than just maintain. Theres a significant focus on growing PT penetration across the club so theres genuine ground to make up and genuine reward for the person who makes it happen. Youll report directly into the General Manager with the autonomy to shape the fitness product develop your trainers and set the standard for what a premium fitness department looks like.
On offer is $80k base plus up to 15% of salary in annual performance bonus a supportive and high performing club team full membership ongoing training and a clear route into wider leadership across the group.
Working pattern: Full time with varied hours and days. Shifts typically run 8am to 4pm 9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm across the week with flexibility needed to cover classes and floor shifts if the team is short. You can also keep your own PT clients for up to 10 hours a week outside your set shifts.
Key responsibilities:
Leading the team: Managing the gym floor and Personal Training teams day to day with recruitment training coaching and accountability all sitting with you.
PT performance: Leading the rollout and delivery of the 2026 Personal Training model with a major focus on growing PT penetration across the club.
Operational standards: Keeping the gym floor and wet areas clean safe well presented and fully maintained to a premium standard.
Programming: Managing the gym floor group fitness class roster and the delivery of education workshops.
Member experience: Owning member engagement through the clubs onboarding journey and handling feedback quickly and constructively.
Commercial control: Working to departmental budgets and reporting on performance against KPIs set annually by the group.
About you:
Experienced: At least four years in a supervisory or management role within the fitness industry.
Qualified: Certificate IV in Fitness Senior First Aid and CPR and a current Working With Children Clearance.
A leader: Naturally motivational with a track record of building high performing teams and developing personal trainers.
Commercially minded: Comfortable with budgets numbers and driving performance targets.
Ideas driven: Someone who brings improvements and actually implements them rather than just suggesting them.
Genuinely passionate: About fitness wellness and delivering exceptional service in a premium environment.
A tertiary qualification in health fitness sport or management is desirable but not essential. Proof of the right to work in Australia or New Zealand will be required at first interview.
