About the Mental Health Division

\n

The Mental Health Division (MHD) provides mental health assessment and interventions for people experiencing mental illness and their families and carers. Working from a recovery-oriented model, the Mental Health Division provides an array of hospital-based, community and specialist services for infants, children, young people, adults and older adults.

\n

About the role

\n

Austin Mental Health is building the Occupational Therapy workforce, and we are actively recruiting Graduate Occupational Therapists. This is a fixed term, 2 year contract within the Graduate Allied Health Mental Health program.

\n

A regular day will see you:

\n

\n
• Provide Occupational Therapy assessments and interventionsthat are evidence basedand within scope of practice
\n
• Work within multidisciplinary teams to provide a comprehensive service to consumers and their family/carers
\n
• Clinical work as allocated, including individual, family/carer and group work
\n

\n

About you

\n

As the Mental Health Graduate OT, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

\n

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

\n

\n
• OT AHPRA registration by February 2027
\n
• Knowledge of mental health across the lifespan and how this may impact on performance and participation in occupations
\n
• An understanding and commitment to recovery orientated practice and client centred care
\n
• Ability to undertake a range of evidence-based OT assessments and interventions, including individual, family and group work.
\n
• Ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and capacity to work independently
\n
