We are seeking a passionate and motivated Chef to join our team at Kokoda Barracks, Canungra. This hands-on role is perfect for a Chef looking to step up their career and take on greater responsibility in a supportive environment. You will lead and mentor a small kitchen team, maintain high food and safety standards, and play a key role in delivering quality dining experiences for Defence personnel. With strong operational support and clear pathways for career advancement, this is an excellent opportunity to grow your leadership skills while continuing to do what you love.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
\n
• Lead and support a small team in the kitchen team to deliver exceptional food service
\n • Prepare high-quality meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and functions
\n • Oversee food preparation, presentation and portion control standards
\n • Maintain food safety, hygiene and HACCP compliance
\n • Assist with menu implementation and daily food production planning
\n • Support stock control, ordering and inventory management
\n • Train, coach and develop team members
\n • Foster a positive, collaborative and safety-focused kitchen culture
\n • Support operational and catering requirements across the site
\n
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
\n
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
\n • Previous experience in managing or mentoring a small team in a commercial kitchen
\n • Experience in bulk catering or high-volume food production environments
\n • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety and allergen management
\n • Excellent organisational and communication skills
\n • Ability to lead, motivate and develop team members
\n • Reliable, professional and customer-focused approach
\n • Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check and Defence clearance
\n
