Youth and Families Manager

The purpose of this role is to lead the BABI Youth and Families Team to ensure delivery of quality services to young people and families accessing Youth and Family Program/s, and includes responsibility within the position for delivering our LINX youth engagement activities.

Key Focus Areas:

Youth and Families leadership, supervision and support.

A high-quality program is delivered to clients and the community within budget that achieves the required outcomes. Contract and funding obligations are met and issues resolved proactively. Critical incidents are carefully managed with compassion. All relevant legislative and statutory requirements, service agreements and BABI policies and procedures are followed. The Families Team is supported to succeed within their roles with a focus on their own wellbeing and professional development and the achievement of overall organisational goals.

Direct delivery of LINX youth engagement activities.

Professional, effective and engaging service delivery of BABI LINX youth activities (Drop-In, School Holiday Activities, Youth Voice Committee, Exit Packs project). Providing youth leadership development and community engagement, life skills and development workshops, group work, coordinating youth projects and events, and outdoor education activities with young people. Development and implementation of the Bay Wave Youth Festival, including volunteering systems.

Partnerships and Networks.

Key relationships are developed, resulting in opportunities for collaboration that strengthen BABI’s service offering to clients and the community.

Data Collection, Analysis and Reporting.

Timely completion of data collection and reports as required by programs. Analysis of data to drive continuous improvement.

Quality Accreditation adherence

Adherence to Policy, Procedure and processes to ensure Human Services Quality Framework Accreditation is maintained and supported under the direction of the CEO.

Team Contribution

Supporting and contributing to a highly productive Families team & (more generally) BABI in achieving high-quality outcomes for young people. A particular focus is on coordinating internal training/professional development for BABI staff.

Employment Conditions

This position is part-time (4 days a week) for 30 hours per week, classified at Level 6.1 until Friday 25th June 2027, and will continue dependent on BABI funding.

Listed Salary is inclusive of Superannuation and is an annual total over 12 months.

This position is paid in accordance with the Queensland Transitional Pay Equity Order derived from the Queensland Community Services and Crisis Assistance Award 2008.The terms and conditions of employment are those applying under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 in conjunction with the National Employment Standards.

Participation in BABI events/activities/meetings which from time to time will involve some weekend/out of normal hours work.

Please respond to these Key Selection Criteria (KSC) in your application:

Demonstrated competency in the following areas is required:

KSC1: Relevant experience and/or qualifications in the youth support sector, or other relevant community sector experience, with demonstrated abilities to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and to understand and identify the barriers young people face to successfully engage in their community.

KSC2: A demonstrated ability in providing case management, group work, life skills and personal development workshops for at-risk and disadvantaged young people, including a youth festival.

KSC3: Well-developed program management skills and a great track record in managing program budgets, compliance, data collection, reporting, and administrative records in a timely and accurate manner.

KSC4: Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written), the ability to remain professional in challenging situations, and the ability to solve problems and resolve issues that arise in service delivery.

KSC5: A demonstrated ability to build networks and partnerships and to work effectively with other staff and a range of stakeholders s (ie. government departments, other organisations) to achieve positive outcomes.

KSC6: A demonstrated ability to provide high-quality leadership and support to program staff in order to deliver high-quality professional services to young people and young families, with the ability to work autonomously (time/self-management) and work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
