Metal Fabricator / Boilermaker-WelderRocky Creek Abattoir – Tolga, QLDFull-timeSalary: $72,000–$80,000 per annum + superannuationRocky Creek Abattoir is seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator / Boilermaker-Welder to join our team in Tolga, Far North Queensland. The successful applicant will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, repair and maintenance of stainless-steel processing equipment, structural steel and other metal components used throughout the abattoir. This is a hands-on role requiring strong fabrication and welding skills and the ability to work safely and effectively within an operational meat-processing environment. Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans and technical specifications.
\n
• Mark out, measure and prepare metal components for fabrication.
\n
• Cut, shape and form metal sections using appropriate hand tools, power tools and metal-cutting equipment.
\n
• Fabricate and assemble metal components and replacement parts.
\n
• Perform MIG, TIG and arc welding to join and repair metal components.
\n
• Fit and install fabricated components and equipment.
\n
• Fabricate, repair and maintain stainless steel processing equipment.
\n
• Repair structural steel and other plant components.
\n
• Inspect completed fabrication and welding work to ensure it meets required specifications and quality standards.
\n
• Finish fabricated and welded components using appropriate grinding and finishing techniques.
\n
• Assist with plant breakdowns, repairs and scheduled shutdown maintenance.
\n
• Maintain welding, fabrication and workshop equipment in safe working condition.
\n
• Ensure all work complies with food safety, workplace health and safety and company requirements.
\n
• Work cooperatively with maintenance, production and other team members as required. Skills and experienceApplicants should have:

• Demonstrated experience in metal fabrication, boilermaking and welding.
\n
• Competency in MIG, TIG and arc welding.
\n
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
\n
• Strong measuring, cutting, fitting and fabrication skills.
\n
• Ability to work accurately and produce work to required specifications.
\n
• Good problem-solving skills.
\n
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
\n
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety. A relevant trade qualification would be highly regarded but is not essential. Experience in stainless steel fabrication and/or fabrication and maintenance within a food-processing, manufacturing or similar industrial environment would also be highly regarded. Willingness to undertake Q fever vaccination is required.
