A global energy and infrastructure business is seeking a hands-on Financial Modeller to join their Sydney-based team, coming from an energy or banking background. This is a genuinely modelling-heavy role, sitting at the centre of structured and project financing activities Australia-wide — working closely with debt and equity providers, banks and investors to support financing, investment, and M&A transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and own complex, structured financial models from scratch — supporting project development, financing, and investment decision-making
  • Model and structure debt financing solutions for energy projects
  • Build and stress-test scenario and sensitivity models to support financing and investment committee decisions
  • Contribute to M&A activities, including financial analysis, valuation modelling, and due diligence
  • Maintain and evolve models supporting broader finance activities — budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
  • Work directly with banks, investors, and financial stakeholders on model outputs, assumptions, and structuring

About You

  • Advanced financial modelling — three-statement, project finance/debt structures, LBO, scenario / sensitivity analysis.
  • Strong background in energy, infrastructure, or utility-scale project financing — from either the developer or banking side
  • Deep, practical experience with debt financing, bank models and transaction due diligence
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Engineering
  • Full working rights in Australia required
