The Birthing in Our Communities (BiOC) program provides a coordinated and culturally safe support system for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families during pregnancy and childbirth. By offering a comprehensive mix of services tailored to family and community needs, we aim to build family capacity, strengthen community connections, and safeguard the wellbeing of children. At ATSICHS, through holistic case management, and collaboration with multiple service providers, BiOC empowers families to navigate challenges, develop essential life skills, and access therapeutic support to improve maternal and infant health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families. The program also engages with families involved in the child protection system, working to address safety concerns, facilitate reunification, and support positive outcomes for children and their families.

Duties

• Effectively engage clients through cold-call home-based visits. Turn initial ‘service offerings’ home visit into consent by delivering motivational interviewing and positive reinforcement practice interventions.
• Deliver immediate safety assessment and safety responses, documented and approved by line-Manager, in instances of domestic and family violence, self-harm/mental health, and child abuse.
• Facilitate ATSICHS ‘Narrative Assessment Tools’ completed in full by client ensuring the voices of clients are imbedded in their assessment. Facilitate conversations and introspection on all assessment domains.
• Ensure families are provided care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postnatal period, in collaboration with clients’ assigned midwives and appropriate care service providers. Ensure client is supported through the 3 stages of BiOC schedule of care - Antenatal Care, Postpartum Care and Infant Development.
• Deliver case managed services according to the program model of care, ensuring minimum case load requirements are maintained to ensure equitable access to services for community.
• Maintain accurate and detailed case notes of all client interactions, ensuring case notes are written from the perspective of clients in their voice.
• Complete SRS (client-led brief session rating survey) upon each occasion of direct face-to-face support provided to client.
• As per MOBnet Performance module, participate in monthly prescheduled supervision with direct line Manager.Ensure Supervision tasks are the priority in work completion. Ensure all associated monthly supervision tasks in MOBnet are completed (two-way feedback, team culture score etc).

• Starting salary of $96,421 + 12% super.

Required

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant social services field with at least 4 years case management experience in family support, child protection, youth support, housing or related field.

OR

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant social services field with a practicum/work history in family support, child protection, youth support, or housing roles.

AND

• Strong case management skills, including grammatical writing ability, personal organisation and time management, and execution of services according to the model of care phases of work.
• Demonstrated ability to critique new social work theoretical frameworks of practice, aligned with ATSICHS values. Ability to deliver real-time adaption of client interventions that build client motivation, insight and acceptance, self-awareness, decision making (agency), and sustainable behaviour change.
• Ability to apply technical knowledge of relevant legislation (child protection/housing/youth justice etc). Ability to critique legislative grey zones, while managing organisational and child/client harm risks.
• Ability to proactively engage with and develop strong working relationships of external stakeholders, including Child Safety, Youth Justice, Schools, and Hospitals.
• Ability to identify and refer numerous internal ATSICHS programs and services to activate wrap-around care for clients, trading-off and negotiating resources across the organisation and between other teams to achieve client impact.

Additional Requirements

• National Police Certificate.
• Current Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply.
• Driver's Licence.
• Evidence of Work Rights.
• Immunisations Category B.
• Travel to work in the community on a regular basis.
