UAV Assistant

Job Description

Mergent Group are seeking two UAV / Assistant Drivers to join the team on a casual project basis, from now until the end of September, as required.

We have one position available in Launceston/Devonport and one in Hobart.

We currently have a project underway involving the inspection of a large volume of distribution poles using drones. We are looking for reliable individuals who can drive the project vehicle, navigate between locations and provide general support to the UAV pilot during field operations.

About the Role

• Drive the project vehicle between distribution poles and work locations
• Navigate efficiently between sites using GPS and mapping systems
• Support the UAV pilot with day-to-day drone operations
• Act as an additional observer/spotter during UAV operations
• Assist with equipment handling, setup and pack-down
• Provide general field support as required
• Maintain a strong focus on safety and compliance while working in the field

About You

• Full, unrestricted Australian driver’s licence – essential
• Good navigation and communication skills
• Reliable, punctual and safety-focused
• Comfortable working outdoors and travelling between multiple locations
• Able to work independently while also supporting the wider team
• Previous experience with UAV/drone operations is advantageous but not essential
