The opportunity

Help grow participation in Australian football across Launceston and Northern Tasmania by delivering quality programs and building strong connections between schools, clubs and communities.

Based in Launceston, you'll spend your days in schools, clubs and local communities running programs, supporting volunteers, building relationships and helping more young Tasmanians get involved in football.

With the excitement of the Tasmania Devils driving record interest in the game, this is an opportunity to play a hands-on role in growing participation and creating pathways for children and families to connect with football.

What you’ll own

You will coordinate and grow football participation programs across northern Tasmania, creating welcoming experiences and stronger pathways into community football.

You’ll add value through:

• Leading the delivery and growth of NAB AFL Auskick and Superkick programs across Launceston and northern Tasmania
• Coordinating school and community programs that introduce children and families to Australian football and connect them with ongoing opportunities
• Supporting participants to transition from introductory programs into community clubs, teams and competitions
• Building productive relationships with schools, teachers, clubs, volunteers, associations, community organisations and local partners
• Recruiting, developing and supporting Auskick and Superkick Coordinators to deliver safe, inclusive and engaging participant experiences
• Coordinating and supporting casual staff to deliver consistent, high-quality football programs
• Developing and implementing local action plans that respond to community needs and support sustainable participation growth
• Identifying and progressing opportunities to increase participation among underrepresented communities
• Supporting junior competitions, emerging teams and local initiatives that strengthen participation pathways
• Contributing local insights and delivery support to broader AFL Tasmania programs, projects, events and AFL/W and VFL/W match-day activities
• Using technology and AI to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and innovation of program delivery

What you’ll bring

• Experience coordinating or delivering programs involving children, young people, sport, education, recreation or community participation
• Strong communication and relationship-management capability across participants, families, schools, clubs, volunteers and community partners
• The ability to plan, prioritise and manage field-based activities across multiple locations and changing operational requirements
• Capability to recruit, coordinate, train or support volunteers and casual program staff
• Practical judgement and initiative, with the ability to identify local opportunities and work collaboratively to deliver outcomes
• Relevant qualifications in sport, recreation, education, coaching, community development or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• A current Tasmanian Driver Licence
• Confidence using Microsoft Office applications
• Capacity to undertake regional travel and occasional evening, weekend and event-based work
• A commitment to delivering safe, inclusive and positive experiences for children, families and communities
