Key Responsibilities
Design and Drafting
- Prepare architectural and building design drawings in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, NCC (BCA), and Queensland regulations
- Produce concept, preliminary, and detailed design documentation for residential and light commercial projects
- Develop working drawings, construction details, and schedules suitable for approvals and construction
- Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated, and delivered within agreed timeframes
Project Support
- Work closely with Building Designers, Engineers, Certifiers, and Project Coordinators to support project delivery
- Coordinate and integrate consultant inputs, including structural, civil, energy efficiency, and hydraulic information
- Respond to internal and external design queries and incorporate feedback into documentation
- Maintain clear and professional communication with internal teams and external stakeholders
Quality and Compliance
- Ensure all documentation complies with NCC (BCA), Australian Standards, and local council planning requirements
- Assist with documentation for development approvals, building approvals, and private certification
- Follow internal quality assurance systems and participate in design reviews
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, templates, and processes
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Qualification in Building Design, Architectural Drafting, or related discipline
- 2+ years’ demonstrated experience in a Building Designer or Drafting role
- Proficiency in relevant CAD and design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, Archicad, SketchUp)
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods and detailing
- Working knowledge of Queensland planning controls and NCC (BCA) requirements
- High attention to detail with strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- QBCC registration or working toward registration as a Building Designer
- Experience preparing documentation for Queensland councils and private certifiers
- Exposure to multidisciplinary projects involving engineers and consultants
- Understanding of energy efficiency requirements (NatHERS)

Annual Salary - $76,960 based on 40 hours per week
