Job description

Are you an experienced live sport social media leader ready to help shape how millions of fans experience Supercars?

Supercars is seeking a Digital Content Lead with at least five years’ experience leading social and digital content in live sports environments.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader in sports social media: a creative and strategic thinker with a track record of planning and executing standout content from concept to delivery. They will be as comfortable directing a digital content team under the pressure of live sport as they are planning creative content campaigns. They will be highly organised, an effective stakeholder manager and creatively ambitious. They will have a strong understanding of the best social content across sport and entertainment, stay across platform algorithm changes and ensure every piece of content reflects current social platform best practice.

A genuine love of sport is essential. An understanding of motorsport is essential.

About the role

The Digital Content Lead will lead Supercars’ digital content and social media storytelling to grow audience reach, deepen fan engagement and increase the value of Supercars’ digital channels. This is a key leadership role within the Digital team, helping define the creative direction and strategy that will expand Supercars’ audience and strengthen how fans experience the sport across social and digital platforms.

The Digital Content Lead plays a central role in growing Supercars’ audience, deepening fan engagement and strengthening the commercial value of our digital channels. By leading high‑performing content across race weekends, campaigns and always‑on storytelling, this role helps turn Supercars’ racing product into content that reaches more people, keeps fans connected and creates stronger outcomes for partners.

During race weekends, the Digital Content Lead will lead Supercars’ live social media coverage across all channels, making fast, informed editorial and creative decisions that keep fans close to the action. This hands‑on role requires strong creative judgement, clear prioritisation and the ability to coordinate both hub‑based and event‑based teams under the pressure of live sport. Some travel to events will be required.

The Digital Content Lead will help define the creative direction of Supercars’ social channels and work with the Head of Digital to refine and optimise the digital content strategy. Drawing on first‑hand experience growing sports social channels, they will identify opportunities to reach new and existing fans, improve content performance and ensure Supercars’ social storytelling reflects current platform best practice.

  • Own the Supercars social media strategy and editorial approach, ensuring all channels deliver compelling, platform‑native storytelling that grows audience reach, engagement and relevance beyond the existing Supercars fanbase.
  • Provide creative direction across Supercars’ social channels, setting the creative standard for content and ensuring executions are distinctive, entertaining, culturally relevant and aligned with the Supercars brand.

Production management

  • Direct Supercars’ social media coverage during live events, making fast, informed editorial and creative decisions while coordinating the Sydney Hub and event‑based teams to deliver timely, engaging and high‑quality coverage across all channels.
  • Responsible for the digital streaming strategy and execution for SuperView and Supercars’ digital streaming channels, working with relevant internal and external stakeholders to maximise audience engagement, subscriber value and digital consumption.
  • Own and manage the digital content production budget, ensuring expenditure is strategically prioritised, commercially responsible and aligned with Supercars’ content objectives.
  • Lead the development and management of the digital content calendar, ensuring content is strategically planned, prioritised and delivered across social, digital and relevant commercial channels.

Collaboration and stakeholder management

  • Ensure commercial content is integrated effectively into the broader digital content strategy, balancing partner requirements with audience‑first storytelling and platform best practice.

Creative excellence and benchmarking

  • Maintain a high standard of operational excellence, ensuring content is delivered accurately, efficiently and consistently, including during the high‑pressure and extended working hours associated with live sporting events.
  • Champion a culture of creativity, accountability and continuous improvement, developing the capability of the Digital Content team and ensuring the team consistently strives for excellence.Maintain a deep understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, emerging formats and industry best practice, continually identifying opportunities to improve Supercars’ content performance and audience growth.
